Building a stage for Science

The AIMS Meeting Organising Committee’s fabric is made of medical students from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, organised in four departments: Scientific, Logistics & Fundraising, Image & Communication, and Public Relations. There are also two General Coordinators, who lead and guide this team.

General Coordination

“Let your actions be louder than your words and your dreams bigger than your fears”

The General Coordinator is responsible for closely monitoring and assisting in all the work carried ou by the other four departments, thereby ensuring a broad and holistic vision of the congress planning process. The General Coordinator is also responsible for managing task distribution among the Organising Committee (OC) and to warrant that all timings and goals are adequately accomplished. The General Coordinator also has an active role on the development of the edition’s budget and has the ultimate responsibility of guaranteeing that it is properly executed. Lastly, the General Coordinator assumes a preeminent role on the external representation of the project and has the important duty of motivating and guiding the remaining members of the OC.

Scientific Department

“Science is the word we use to describe a method of organizing our Curiosity”

The Scientific Department is responsible for assembling all the components of the Scientific Program: from planning leading-edge lectures to organising a wide variety of hands-on and scientific or clinical reasoning workshops. Furthermore, this team organizes various Competitions so that, regardless of fields of interest within biomedicine, our participants’ work is acknowledged and rewarded.

Logistics and Fundraising Department

“Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning”

The Logistics and Fundraising Department is responsible for fundraising, preparing social, cultural and charity programs and for growing ecological awareness with AIMS Green. They also ensure all logistic details during the event, such as management of facilities and organisation of participants’, instructors and speakers’ kits.

Image and Communication Department

“The world of reality has its limits, the world of imagination is boundless”

The Image and Communication Department is responsible for running the website, managing social network accounts and designing graphic and audiovisual content to disclose information about all programs and activities of the AIMS Meeting. Furthermore, it is responsible for the assistance regarding the transmission of the congress and the design of the online platform.

Public Relations Department

“Science isn’t finished until it’s communicated”

The Public Relations Department is responsible for promoting AIMS Meeting, both at a national and international level, helping our congress become a diverse project with broader horizons. They arrange partnerships with other congresses and organizations, take care of the Registration process and organise the Ambassador’s and Homes Program. They are also responsible for maintaining contact with the participants throughout all the process, making sure your experience with AIMS Meeting is as smooth and enriching as possible.
